For a career distinguished by the highest standards of excellence in the use of television to educate, inform, and challenge received ideas, a Personal Peabody Award goes to Bill Moyers. 1976: A Conversation with Jimmy Carter. 1978: The Battle for South Africa. 1980: The MX Debate. “The distinguished Bill Moyers, with the help of two excellent public television stations, KUED-TV, and WNET/13, created a special edition of Bill Moyers’ Journal which dealt totally with the MX controversy.” 1984: A Walk Through the 20th Century with Bill Moyers. 1985: Whose America Is It? 1988: Bill Moyers’ World of Ideas. 1989: The Public Mind: Frontline: Washington’s Other Scandal. 1999: Facing the Truth with Bill Moyers: South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Public Affairs Television, Inc., under the leadership of Mr. Moyers and executive producers Judith Davidson Moyers and Judy Doctoroff O’Neill, is creating television of true distinction.”
