Lonesome Dove

CBS Television, Motown Productions, in association with Pangaea and Qintex Entertainment

Lonesome Dove managed to dispel two myths at one time. First it put the lie to conventional wisdom that labeled the television western as a dead form. Second, it countered a growing belief that the mini-series is outmoded. Its critical and ratings success has shown that quality work has an audience regardless of the form in which the work appears. CBS Television and Motown Productions in association with Pangaea and Qintex Entertainment have created a first-rate story of life and death on the cattle drive. The relationships between the characters, especially Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones, reached out to viewers and captured their imagination and affection. Executive producers Suzanne DePasse and Bill Wittliff, along with the other principals, have created a story that captures the American past and allows viewers to relive it at its worst and best. For outstanding accomplishment, a Peabody Award to CBS Television and Motown Productions in association with Pangaea and Qintex Entertainment for Lonesome Dove.
