The year 1965, recording three major disasters in the vast rural areas of the plains states, offered WCCO Radio a rare opportunity to perform its traditional public service to millions suffering blizzards, floods, and tornados within a three month period. Through broadcast survival instructions and continuous alerts, hundreds of lives were saved. For long range preparedness and dedicated all-out effort, a Peabody Award to WCCO Radio, Minneapolis.
