Crusade In Europe
Winner 1949 | ABC Television
Crusade in Europe, based on the book by the same title by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, tells the story of the European phases of World War II. Sponsored by Time and Life Magazines, and produced strictly for TV by March of Time Editors, the 26 episodes which comprise the series, in the language of General James Doolittle, “present history as it happened, seen on a scale never before possible.” As such, it was television’s major contribution to education in 1949, and as such is hereby presented the George Foster Peabody Award in that category with bows to General Eisenhower; Henry R. Luce, Editor of Time and Life; Roy E. Larson, President, Time, Inc.; Richard de Rochemont, Producer; and, Mr. Arthur Tourtellet, Assistant Producer, March of Time.
