The Peabody Awards

Artists’ Showcase

 1966 | WGN-TV

The Peabody Award for outstanding television local music goes to “Artists’ Showcase, WGN-TV, for providing an opportunity to the most gifted young singers and instrumentalists in the classical musical field, and thereby filling a cultural gap in the Second City, and doing it in mid-Sunday evening when the alternative is one more western, an old movie, or an hour of silly comedy on the network stations. With a special nod to Louis Sudler, host and founder, and to Robert Treadler, director of its symphonic orchestra.
