Age Seven in America
1992 | CBS-TV, New York, New York, Granada Television, London, UK
Based on the 30 year documentary originated in England by filmmaker Michael Apted, this program represents a unique achievement: it encapsulates the contemporary American condition in the words and images of seven-year-olds around the country. Included are telling statements and opinions about education, ethics, religion, relationships, crime, contemporary events, and most importantly, the outlook for the future. Director Phil Joanou has set a high standard for this series as it sets out to revisit these eloquent and outspoken caretakers of the American dream over the next few decades. We congratulate CBS-TV and Granada Television on this achievement and look forward with great anticipation to future installments of this outstanding work.
